Pearl's Southern Comfort

Pearl's Southern Comfort

A taste of New Orleans located in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago.

Pearl's Southern Comfort

For owner Danny Beck, southern fare isn’t exclusively marked by bold bayou, creole, or slow-smoked barbecue flavors.

Sinking his teeth into a perfectly fried piece of okra transports Beck back to his southeastern Kansas roots beside his great grandmother, Pearl—the namesake of his welcoming bar and eatery, Pearl’s Southern Comfort.

Its enormous arched windows open up to a completely revamped 100 year-old room, featuring long exposed ceiling beams, whitewashed brick, dark slate walls, and soft leather chairs.

But even with all that design swag, the main draw at Pearl's Southern Comfort is still the food.

The modern facade gives way to a funky down-home space with exposed-brick walls, bare wood tables and a massive portrait of the owner’s great-grandma, Pearl, presiding over it all."
